Making sales is one the hardest aspects of running an online business. Everything else, is secondary. All of you hard work and effort will either make you money or not. I can remember hearing all the top online marketers talking about their mailing list. Everything they mentioned was in some way connected to their mailing list. I didn’t take it very seriously since only wanted to make money. I quickly realized my mistake, and have now started cultivating a very responsive and loyal mailing list. Having your own list is imperative since you will be able to follow up with your subscribers, thereby improving your chances of closing the sale.

You may not believe it but many potential customers will arrive on your order page, and then simply leave. Sound strange doesn’t it? Not really, once you understand why they are leaving. It’s called shopping cart abandonment and it can kill your sales ratio. Here’s how it works, when a buyer arrives on your order page and notices it looks completely different than your sales page, they get scarred off and just leave. Believe it or not, you can increase sales by up to 40% simply by adding your header graphic on the order page.

Finally, too many marketers fail to diversify their marketing efforts. You must take a multifaceted approach and embrace all form of advertising. For example, many newbies get fixated on pay per click advertising. They want a quick fix and are willing to pay for targeted traffic. Don’t get me this method can be very profitable if you know what you are doing. However, if you only use this form of marketing, you are missing out on a huge amount of revenue.
