Quixtar Exposed - No Fluff, Just Facts…Legit or Scam…

February 26th, 2009
by Ciro A Gamino

Quixtar and Amway are owned by Alticor Inc. Doug DeVos, President of Quixtar has evoloved the Amway business and has taken it online. “Quixtar has long been a member of the Direct Selling Association and has been a leader in supporting our efforts and self-regulations.”

Started in 1959, Aticor is owned by the De Vos and Van Andel families. Together they formed Amway Corp a direct marketing and the first multi level marketing company ever. In 1999 Jay Van Andel launched the sister company to Amway called Quixtar.

The Company

Simple concept really. First, there is the “Company”, which is the main product sold. Second, you have distributors who sell the company products. Third, you have duplication, distributors recruit new distributors to do the same to earn from them.

They say this is a business like no other, they say that is truly performance based, rewarding their Independent Business Owners or (IBOs) on their efforts. Most of the distributors use the products that they personally purchase even though it is expressed that 70% of the merchandise purchased is required to be resold to the end user. They say their IBOs are rewarded more than $370.1 million in bonuses and incentives just for the fiscal year of 2006, and more than $2.2 Billion since 1999. In fact nearly all IBO’s actually use the products personally. Success is generated by dedication and focus, as any with business.

Another rule they have is distributors cannot secure their bonuses solely on purchases of the product. They are required to “resell” at least 70% of the products they have purchased each month. And they have to sell to at least 10 customers or they do not qualify for a bonus that month. They will have to prove a sale to 10 individual customers each and every month

Legit or Scam? Your best bet would to look for a real direct marketing program, not one that is like a cult, where they learn what to say and what not to say. They become involved so much, that it almost becomes like a religion. Just be cautious and do your homework.

If you bask in recruiting relatives and friends, hotel meetings, home parties, group presentations, cold calling and seminars than this line of work perhaps is suitable for you. Nonetheless, if you do not like recruiting, cold calling selling, and do not see yourself being competent to develop a business generating multiple 100’s - 1000’s of dollars, than your success will be confined and you ought to keep on searching for a possible automatic business where you can make a considerable income.
